The osmanthus tree (bush) from the temperate zone of Asia and is quite rare. Its white blossoms give off a suave floral perfume accentuated by scents of peach and apricot. It is cultivated in China and Japan.
As with jasmine, the flowers are too fragile for vapor distillation. The extraction is achieved by the use of volatile solvents.
Osmanthus is reserved for fine fragrances. It brings an exotic floral savor with a tint of apricot to feminine fragrances. It is also very sought after in gastronomy for its fruity-floral notes. Used as a middle note in perfumes.
Its smooth notes bring a comforting sensation.
